I finally had my first day of classes today, which was pretty long. They switched my perfect schedule so now I have 5 and a half hours of class in a row on Monday and Wednesday. Hopefully I'll be able to switch it back! Since I last wrote, I visisted Real Alcazares and Granada. Alcazar is a garden and palace in Sevilla where the king and queen of spain come to stay when they visit. It is a very old building constructed with both muslim and christian influence. The gardens are absolutely beautiful, and I am sure they are even more so in the spring. Then this weekend we visited Granada and the Alhambra which was incredible. It is like a big version of Alcazar and very historically significant. It is also a palace but a million times bigger and more amazing. It was a palace for the Moorish rulers of Spain. Ferdinand and Isabella lived there, it's where the New World plan was decided, Washington Iriving lived there, etc. Bascially its this huge building in the mountains and it is breathtaking. Granada itself is amazing. It is in the mountains (which hurt my ears and stomach) and you can see the Sierra Nevada mountains in the background. Every street is narrow and curvy and all the little houses are white. It is a city of mostly university students the guide told us. And hippies, lots of hippies. It was freeeezing which was unfortunate because I'm sure it is even more beautiful when the flowers bloom. We also went to see a famous church where Ferdinand and Isabella and their family's tombs are. It was very cool. I really liked Granada and it was a fun trip overall. It was short so we were exhausted most of the time. I'd like to go back one day for sure. I have tons of pictures but it isn't working right now, I'll try later.Heading to Barcelona to see Shaun and Sirisha on Thursday. SOO excited! It will be awesome to hang with my friends from home and see their lives there. I'll update again soon!
